Animations of the Kuramoto model

Some animations and visualisations of the Kuramoto model for different coupling strengths. Setup conditions:

• natural frequencies are standard normally distributed
• initial angles are uniformly distributed (between 0 and 2π)
• 50 oscillators
• different coupling strengths K: 1.50, 1.65, 1.80

The critical coupling strength is 2 * sqrt(2/π) ≈ 1.60. For coupling strengths above the critical value you would expect (eventual) synchronisation, for coupling strengths below they might never synchronise. Interestingly for this particular random initialisation, the case with K = 1.50 (below critical value) synchronises quicker than the one with K = 1.65 (above critical value), which is the converse from what you would expect.
