Visualisation of the Dutch transmission grid, based on historical maps and yearly reports of the transmission operators. Data is preliminary: only lines and substations that are still in use today have been included. Lines and substations which have been used in the past but are now removed are missing. Building years are based on data provided by TenneT, and have not been cross-checked with older maps.
Visualisation of the Hungarian transmission grid, based on data kindly provided by Dr. Bálint Hartmann. See also the paper Bálint Hartmann & Viktória Sugár (2021). Searching for small-world and scale-free behaviour in long-term historical data of a real-world power grid.
Generated using the Small-World Power Grid Growth and Evolution Model from Chapter 4: Power Grid Growth and Evolution of the book Power Grid Complexity (2011) by Shengwei Mei, Xuemin Zhang and Ming Cao. The description of the model can be found in Section 4.3, starting at page 141.
We provide two simulations, with different initialization seeds. Due to the random choices made during the simulation, this gives two distinct outcomes.
